In a weekend that could have been the setting for the video clip “four seasons in one day” by Aus-tralian pop group Crowded House, Peter Auto opened their European tour in Barcelona. The large audience was treated with beautiful grids and the changing weather conditions added to the ex-citement.
In the one make 2 liter Cup for Porsche 911 cars it was Oliver Bryant who managed to secure the pole. Already in the 2nd lap of the race he had to let Xavier Dayraut pass him, although he was overtaken soon by Evgeny Kireev. Bryant went into the pit lane together with the safety car, which meant he threw away his chance of a victory. After the pit stops Bryant was however able to take the lead again and claim victory.
Jeroen Bleekemolen took over the wheel from owner Tim Pappas in 14th position and managed to bring the car across the finish line in 7th place. David Verzijlbergen who together with owner Jürgen Westphal finished the former van Duijvendijk Porsche in 12th place. Last Dutch participant Timmo Mol finished in 22nd place.
In Classic Endurance Racing 1 open for sportscars and GTs until 1971 both David and Olivier Hart managed to put their Ferrari 512M on pole. A change to the desired rain tyres was difficult and took them outside the top 20.
A solid performance from Olivier Hart brought the car back into the top 3, but he had to tolerate Emile Breittmayer in his Lola T70 Mk.3 and John Emberson/ Niogel Greensall in their Chevron B19 ahead of him. Ralf Kelleners finished his Group IV De Tomaso Pantera as the first of the GT cars in 9th position overall.
In the Classic Endurance Racing 2 open to sportscars and GTs until 1981, Maxime Guenat took pole position with his Lola T286.
Dominique Guenat lost a few places at the start, but he quickly made up a lot of places and brought his TOJ SC303 to 2nd position, ahead of Frank Morel with a TOJ SC206. Emmanuel Brigand man-aged to bring his Porsche 935 over the finish line as the first GT in 5th place overall.
During both qualifying and race, participants of the Classic Touring Challenge for Touring Cars until 1966 had to cope with rain. Bram Bontrup with a Ford Mustang appeared to be the best at dealing with these conditions and drove his competitors at a great distance. He was followed by the Cortinas of teams Drain/Haddon and Chilton/Neal.
Motorsport UK talent Alfie Briggs claimed pole position in the Zytek 04S during the first qualifying session for Endurance Racing Legends 1. Alex Müller came close with Ivan Vercoutere’s Dome S101, but finished less than four-tenths of a second behind. The Hart family completed the top three with their Pescarolo C60.
Due to the large amount of water on the track, many drivers skipped the optional 2nd qualification, but not for Mike and Loris Hezemans. They clocked the fastest time with their Lotus Elise GT1. Unfortunately, they had to drop out in the 1st race of the weekend with a blown engine.
The first 40 minute race of the weekend was won by Christian Albrecht with the MG EX257, fol-lowed by Alfie Briggs and Shaun Lynn in the Audi R8 LMP. Steve Brooks finished first in the GT category, and 6th overall with the Saleen S7-R. Mike Newton was the first LMP2 in 10th position in his MG EX264.
Mathijs Bakker entered the race with his Dodge Viper GTS-R. A lot of oversteer kept him from be-ing able to compete with the cars in front of him. As a result, he had to settle for 13th position over-all. He finished in 3rd position during the 2nd race of the weekend in the GT1b class. Both David and Olivier Hart skipped that particular race due to gearbox problems.
Alfie Briggs managed to win the 2nd race in Endurance Racing Legends. He stayed ahead of the old RTH Dome S101 of the duo Vercautere/Müller. Niklas Halusa completed the podium with his Audi R8. Olivier Galant finished the impressive Panoz Esperante GTR1 in 5th position and was the first GT. In 10th position Mike Newton was again the first LMP2.
That a blazing fast car is not always reliable was shown by Sebastian Glaser with his Porsche 992 GT2 Evo at the GT2 grid of the Endurance Racing Legends. In qualifying he was by far the fastest driver, but due to technical problems he dropped out early in both races.
Tim Pappas and Jeroen Bleekemolen were fastest in Q2 and second in Q1. In the first race they managed to finish their 993 GT2 Evo in 6th place. The second race however, turned out considera-bly less positive. The duo soon had to head to the pits and throw in the towel
Max Lynn won both races with his Ferrari F430 GTC. He was followed by Mark Sumpter in his 993 GT2 in both races. Pierre Ehret completed the podium during the first race, also with an F430. Da-vid Sarny finished in 3rd position during the second race of the weekend with his 996 GT3 RSR.
Kriton Lendoudis proved to be the fastest in Q1 with his Mercedes C11. In Q2, driven under difficult weather conditions, it was the Porsche 962C of team Vercoutere/Kelleners that was responsible for the fastest time. The latter team managed to win the 1st race for the Group C sports cars, followed by Lendoudis and Olivier Galant with the Nissan R90CP.
Lukas Halusa performed during both Group C races very strong. A problem with his right rear wheel caused him to visit the pits again in the first race. Lendoudis was the only one who managed to stay close to Halusa and his Porsche 962C until the finish. Olivier Galant finished both races in 3rd position.
Maxime Guenat took the Heritage Touring Cup pole with his Ford Capri RS3100 ahead of Armand Mille (also Capri RS3100) and Emile Breittmayer with the BMW 3.0 CSL. Equipe Rihon/ Padmore were the fastest in the Group A class with their BMW 635 Csi. They were also the fastest in the race and finished in 9th position overall.
Technical problems prevented David and Olivier Hart from qualifying as one of the fastest cars on the grid. But an unleashed start brought them into the top 10 after the first race lap, starting from 24th. They fought a fierce battle with Sebastian Glaser for victory until the chequered flag. However a track limit gave them a 5 second penalty and despite crossing the finish line first they had to set-tle for 2nd place. Guenat could not convert his pole position into the race and had to settle for 3rd place.
In a strongly occupied Sixties Endurance grid both Bram Bontrup & Olivier Hart took pole position in their Shelby Cobra. Unfortunately they had to park their car early in the race. Phil Keen qualified James Thorpe’s Jaguar E-type in 2nd place. Keen was followed by Max Huber, also in a Shelby Cobra. Loris and Liam Hezemans managed a 7th starting position with the Bizzarrini 5300GT.
Althought they didn’t managed a top ten starting place during qualifying, the 2 hour endurance race was dominated by the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe’s. Team Guenat/Mahe claimed victory fol-lowed by Erwin France and Armand Mille. The Hezemans brothers had to settle for a 12th place with their Bizzarrini.

Although they finished in 28th place overall, the participance of Anthony Schrauwen and Jan Gijzen was worth to mention. Both have been regular guests on the various Peter Auto grids for years, but this time with a new car. Gijzen bought the yellow Healey from Cor Visser a while ago and was now at the start of the 2-hour race together with buddy Schrauwen.
The pole position of the Gentleman Challenge, a race for cars from the 50s and early 60s, was tak-en by Nigel Greensall. He managed to qualify John Emberson’s Morgan SLR on the first starting row. He was accompanied by Yves Vögele with the Porsche 904/6. Both were unable to convert this great grid position into a victory during the first. Victory went to Luc-Pierre Verquin with his Lis-ter Knobbly Chevrolet. He was accompanied on the podium by Guillermo Fierro (Maserati Tipo61) and Afschin Fatemi (Tojeiro EE).
Verquin crashed his Lister while overtaking a backmarker and the way was open for Fierro to win the 2nd race of the weekend. Anthony Schrauwen claimed 2nd place with his Lister Jaguar Knob-bly, followed by Emberson/ Greensall with the Morgan SLR.
